GARRETT, FrankGt Grandfather FRANK GARRETT who was employed on LSWRailway. He was born 23rd Nov 1849 in Wimborne, Dorset. and Orphaned at the age of 9. The first record I have found of him working for the railway was on the 1871 census he was Age 21 as a Railways Parcel Porter at Dorchester Station, Dorset The following census 1881, 1891, &1901 finds him as a Railways Parcel Porter at Farnham Station, Surrey. His eldest son Frank (jnr) joined him by the 1901 census also working at Farnham Station as a Porter. I have attached a Picture of them, and staff at Farnham Station aprox 1900. Frank (Snr) Retired from the Railway in 1905 and became landlord of "The Wheatsheaf Inn" Farnham, Surrey He Died 1928 Alton, Hampshire. Frank (Jnr) left the Railway in 1910 to takeover from his father as landlord of the same Inn retiring in 1933 he Died 1951 Farnham, Surrey. Its possible Frank (snr) started work at Wimborne station before moving to Dorchester although I haven't been able to confirm this yet Derek Garrett1849-1951
